For OGK-5, sustainable development means the performance of the obligations to major stakeholders. We aspire not only to live up to the expectations of people we have an impact upon, but also look into the future trying to comply with the requirements to be imposed on us by changes in the outside world.
For us a stable company means development and creation of favourable conditions for future generations. Our main principle is to create without destruction. Being a large power producer interacting with such areas as economy, environmental protection and society, we fully acknowledge our responsibility and determine actual interaction areas:
Economy:
- power and heat sales markets (contribution to the development of competitive environment)
- markets for purchase of goods and services for own needs, including power generation machinery, technical equipment, fuel (through competition-based procurement procedures)
- investment process (through the attraction of investments into the technical upgrade of the existing facilities and the construction of new generating facilities.);
- payment of taxes to federal and local budgets.
Environment:
- Preservation of environment (through optimal use of land and water);
- Promotion of human health;
- Improvement of energy efficiency
Society:
- Respect for human rights;
- Provision of equal job opportunities;
- Development of civil society (interaction with non-governmental organisations, charity).
OGK-5 reports about its achievements, plans and results of activities in sustainability reports. The first sustainability report of OGK-5 was issued for 2006.
